Grow, Give, Go

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith”

Colossians 2:6-7

“The point is this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart…for God loves a cheerful giver.”

2 Corinthians 9:6-7

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

Matthew 28:19-20

In 2014 there are 3 things that I’m praying over, not only my life, but the life of this church. Those three things are to Grow, to Give, and To Go.

Grow: As individuals we are to strive every day to become more like Christ in every way. Whether it’s to read the Bible more or to pray more we all should be focused on how we can become better people in 2014. In addition this church, as we look to the future, should be praying that we grow closer as a family and in turn draw others into this church to grow with us.

Give: Here’s a question I ask myself daily as I seek to minister to the lost and hurting, “Have I given enough?” Whether it be tithing to the church or volunteer my time I should be resolute in wanting to give back from the abundance God has so graciously given me; after all, is it not all His anyway? As a church, if we ever hope to grow, we must have members willing to give to see the Kingdom advance. So if it is to volunteer more or it is to tithe more, let 2014 be a year where we are known for our cheerful giving.

Go: There is no such thing as a passive Christian. To turn our lives to Christ means we turn our hearts to a lost world in need of the message that Jesus is our only hope. So in 2014 I pray that we as church become a staple in the Holden community as we talk with neighbors, visit friends and tell anyone we come in contact with that we have something great going on as a church and that something great is solid trust in Jesus as our Savior.

So in 2014 may we as a church grow, give, and go to become effective, transformed people committed to serving God and becoming more like Jesus.
